【Vista学院译】别笑，老外升级Vista的几个问题咨询

老外们貌似电脑水准比国人还差，看到了几个问题，Vista学院（www.jztop.com/os/vista）团队诸人差点要喷饭，还是忍不住翻译了一下下 ：）

问题一：我升级到了Vista的B版，就是Business版本，系统评分仅为1分，系统属性显示我的显卡不好（型号：Dell D610），咋办？

回答：并非显卡本身的问题，建议你到Dell的官方网站，下载这个型号电脑的最新显卡驱动程序，Vista的评分，和驱动程序关系很大。你的Dell这个型号并不属于专门预装vista的机型，但是如果你有足够大的内存，用来共享显存，还是能享受到Vista的Aero特性的。建议你去购置1G，最好2GB的内存，这个，会大大提升你的电脑使用Vista的性能。

问题二：我现在使用的微软的Office 2003办公套件，升级到了Vista，我也要同时升级Office么？例如升级到Office2007？

回答：  没必要，Office2003能够很好的运行在Vista下面，而且你在vista下面安装office2003后，自动升级时会有一个补丁程序。至于Office2007，确实带了很多新的特性，是否需要，要看你自己了。

问题三：我的AVG这个免费杀毒软件总是自动退出，这个情况发生在我升级到Windows Vista Basic版本的时候？有何良策？

回答：我也发生过相同的问题曾经，对其他读者来说，我可能要建议升级Vista前，先卸载这个杀毒软件，然后重新安装，对你来说，我建议你要完全卸载这个杀毒软件，在控制面板里面的那个添加删除程序选项里面，然后再重装，确定你使用的版本是AVG 7.5，AVG7.1已经过期了。

问题四：我女儿秋天要上大学了，购机方面，有什么建议？

回答：我会在她离家的3周前购买，除非你特别有理由现在就买。电脑硬件软件发展太快，趋势总是变的越来越强，越来越便宜，对你的孩子和你的购机预算了解不多，不是太好建议，当然，还是可以提供几个购买要点的。硬件品质方面考虑，我会选择购买苹果公司的电脑产品，如果她的学习会设计图像设计、摄影或者录影剪辑。而且，最新的苹果电脑，是可以运行Windows 系统的。如果考虑到钱的因素，可以从PC World那儿了解最新的产品评测，每月他们都会发布最新的销售评比数据。

Answers on upgrading to Vista

      Reader mail is flooding in this week, along with offers for the Canadian lottery, the estate of my long-lost uncle in Nigeria and herbal remedies (not to mention penny stocks). Let's get right to the chase.

      Question: I upgraded to Windows Vista Business Edition, if you can call it that, on my laptop. It is now glacially slow.
      The rating on it is a 1 because it says my on-board graphics card is not very good (it is a Dell D610 laptop with Intel graphics). What are my options?

      Answer: Well, none on the graphics. Check with Dell's support site and see if there are any updated video drivers, but your model (along with others using that chip) are not slated for any Vista-specific upgrades because the underlying architecture isn't good enough to support the Vista "Aero" interface. However, you can run Vista quite happily if you have enough system memory ... you just won't get the cool graphics.
      I would upgrade your RAM to at least a gig and perhaps 2. Check the Crucial.com memory computer to see what your laptop can hold and then cram in whatever your budget can afford. That will make Vista usable when it comes to speed.

      Question: I have Microsoft Office 2003. If I upgrade to Vista do I need to upgrade Office as well?

      Answer: No, your 2003 version will work just fine (a patch will be applied using Windows update after your installation). Office 2007 is a huge leap in terms of Office platforms (it works differently) so you may need to consider if you need the new features or not.

      Question: My AVG Free anti-virus quit working after my upgrade to Windows Vista Basic. Do you have any advice?

      Answer: Yes, the same thing happened to me on one of my installations. For other readers I would recommend uninstalling your anti-virus product prior to the upgrade, then reinstalling after. For you, I would suggest getting rid of the product completely using Add/Remove Programs and then reinstalling it. Make sure you are using version 7.5 of the free AVG product. Version 7.1 has expired.

      Question: My daughter is going to college in the fall, and we are shopping for laptops now. Do you have any suggestions in terms of quality?

      Answer: Yes, I would wait until three weeks before she leaves unless you have a pressing need to buy one now.
      Computers will be more powerful and likely cheaper as the year goes on. (See also: Moore's Law.) In terms of brands, this is a geek's dilemma. Knowing little about your child and your budget, there are few clues here. For sheer quality of hardware, I'd still buy an Apple. (That goes double if she is into graphics design, photography or video editing.) The latest Apples can run Windows relatively well so there's that factor. If money is a factor, look at the latest quality ratings from PC World magazine. Every month they rate the best laptops in several categories based on test results. All things being equal, Windows-based laptops are cheaper.
      You also should check with the college. Some offer great deals on hardware for students and even offer on-site support if you buy it from them. Price the deals carefully though; some are no deal at all.
